Showcasing the Premium Quality and Craftsmanship of Legendary Whiskey

We’re proud to introduce the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 Editions of the Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond Decanter Series.

Fall 2023

Our twelfth national release in this series is an award-winning eight-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. It received Double Gold at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and Platinum at the 2024 TAG Global Spirits Awards. This edition is comprised of barrels produced in Fall 2015 and is bottled in an ornate decanter inspired by the original 1950s packaging design, featuring a black label in keeping with other Fall releases in the Decanter series.

The Fall 2023 edition bears a bright burnished copper color, with a nose of brown sugar and toasted bread in addition to cinnamon and nutmeg. It’s smooth on the palate with notes of peaches and cream, followed by peppery spice and caramel sweetness. Spice notes linger in the finish along with peach and pear notes and a caramelized brown sugar finale.

Spring 2024

This Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is made from barrels produced in Spring 2014, making it 10 years old.

The Spring 2024 edition is denoted by a green label on the decanter. Its liquid is a bright copper color, with a nose of butterscotch and toasted oak along with dried roses and floral notes. The taste is subtle on the palate with honey sweetness and notes of aromatic herbs and green tea, with a rich and herbal finish featuring notes of cardamom and nutmeg followed by hints of white pepper and oak char at the end.

Both the Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 editions meet the strict requirements of a Bottled-in-Bond:

  • Consist of the same spirits and class of materials
  • Be the product of one distilling season, which can run from January-June or July-December
  • Be stored at least four years in wooden containers in bonded government rickhouses
  • Be reduced in proof by pure water only
  • Be bottled at exactly 100 proof
  • Bear the name and number of the Distilled Spirits Plant (D.S.P.) where the spirit was produced, and, if different, the D.S.P. of the bottling facility

In addition, the tax strip—which has always been a signature of transparency on Bottled-in-Bond products—discloses when the liquid for each release was produced and bottled. Both are available in the 750ml size on an allocated basis.

The legendary Old Fitzgerald line is well-known for its distilling pedigree and the intriguing story behind its namesake, John E. Fitzgerald. In 1999, Heaven Hill Distillery acquired the brand and began distilling it at Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. Various releases have gone on to win Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the Chairman’s Trophy in the Ultimate Spirits Challenge and Best of Class from Wine Enthusiast, among others.
