American Whiskeys: Find Your Style

As the only heritage distiller that features every major category of American whiskey, we want to share a little of that knowledge with you, and maybe help you find the right whiskey for your style along the way.

BOURBON:
A true Bourbon must age for at least two years in new, charred white oak barrels, and cannot contain coloring or blending agents. Our Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon has a rich, natural, smooth flavor. If you’re looking for a Bourbon with the right balance of rich flavor this is the one for you.

RYE WHISKEY:
What sets rye whiskey apart from Bourbon is the use of much more rye and much less corn in the mashbill. Rye whiskey starts with an explosion of spice and ends with notes of vanilla, honey, and caramel. Our Rittenhouse Rye is sweet, spicy and has a distinctive character that allows it to work well for sipping or mixing cocktails.

WHEAT WHISKEY:
Wheat Whiskey is the first new style of American whiskey since Prohibition, and was developed by Heaven Hill Distillery’s own Master Distillers. We use soft winter wheat in Bernheim, making it one of our smoother whiskeys, for those who’d like a subtler sipping experience.

CORN WHISKEY:
A corn whiskey like Heaven Hill’s Mellow Corn has no aging requirement, but must be at least 80% corn and must be aged in used charred Barrels. As a result, Heaven Hill’s Mellow Corn is a grainier and slightly sweeter option.
