CONTINUING THE CONVERSATION WITH THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE—AND LOVE—AMERICAN WHISKEY

At Heaven Hill Distillery, we believe in sharing the stories behind our spirits and learning from the people who know them best. That’s why in 2019, we launched the Tales from the Hill podcast. The series provides a unique, behind-the-scenes look into the largest independent, family-owned and operated distillery in America, as well as expert opinions and insider stories.

We’ll be bringing you all-new episodes featuring the key players and processes involved in nurturing and preserving our award-winning American Whiskeys, as well as a wealth of knowledge and exciting news from the world of Bourbon.

Our first episode back begins with an investigation. In 2020, Larceny Barrel Proof stole the show when it was named Whisky Advocate’s “Whisky of the Year”—making it the first Wheated Bourbon to ever receive the title. We investigate this historic win, starting with a deep dive into the Larceny vault to discover the folklore of John E. Fitzgerald. Next, we learn how it’s crafted from our Master Distiller, and even share inspiration on how to best enjoy Larceny Barrel Proof.

Here’s a sneak peek at some of our other recent stories:

  • Meet the Bottled-in-Bond brand that’s quickly becoming a cult classic and attracting new fans. As one of the last surviving Straight Corn Whiskeys produced in Kentucky, Mellow Corn has a certain charm—including a label that hasn’t changed in 70 years.
  • We sit down to discuss the legacy of Harry Shapira, his impact on the world of American Whiskey and how that led to the nearly $19,000,000 renovation of our Bardstown visitor center.
  • A team of Bourbon experts sit down to answer common collecting questions. How exactly should you go about storing bottles? Where’s the best place? How long do you have to drink an open bottle? And what’s the best way to hunt down new collectables? We answer these questions and more in this conversational roundtable.

We’ll be releasing new episodes throughout the year. To make sure you never miss an episode, subscribe to the podcast or sign up for our newsletter. And since there’s no time like the present to expand your American Whiskey knowledge, we recommend catching up on our previous episodes in the meantime.
